Description:

Starts at $100 - A small olla shaped vessel from ancient Panama, circa 800 - 1000 CE. This Macaracas style example, most commonly referred to as Cocle, measures approximately 3 1/2" wide by about 3 1/2" tall (item alone, excluding display ring), and exhibits polychrome decoration in blackand red against a cream colored slip. The form is aesthetically pleasing, featuring a well-balanced globular body with a lipped rim at the top. The designs on the exterior are abstractions of the Jaguar or Saurian claw motif, generally symbolic of power. Does not include the acrylic display ring, for photographing purposes only.
