Description:

Rare type! A fine, diminutive pottery figurine from the ancient Chupicuaro region of Pre-Columbian West Mexico, ca. 300 - 100 BCE. This example is likely that of a female (although gender is ambiguous), wearing a large necklace and pendant, ear ornaments and a loin cloth. Interestingly, they are wearing a headband with a circular pendant( or possibly a flower) off to one side. Includes museum quality metal display stand, as shown. 1-3/4" tall (item alone, un-mounted) and about 1-7/8" tall mounted. Provenance: Former Southwest, US collection. All items in this auction have been legally acquired, are legal to sell, and guaranteed to be as described or your money back. The starting price is the lowest price at which the lot can sell.

  • Condition: Intact, with minor abrasions, chipping, weathering and wear. Old glue residue remains on the back where it was safely removed from being glued to a display at some point in the recent past. The glue residue can likely be easily removed with histological acetone, if desired.
