Description:

Pre-Columbian, South America, Peru, Chimu, ca. 1000 CE. A hand carved wooden standing totem figure with arms positioned to chest and three-fingered hands facing outward as if engaged in a dance, quite stylized with characteristically oversized trapezoidal head, incised diamond shaped eyes presenting a steadfast look as if in a trance, an overhanging forehead that resolves to a short nose, and overall abstract features. Incredible that this carved wooden sculpture has stood the tests of time! Lovely patina! Custom stand. Size: 4" W x 11" H (10.2 cm x 27.9 cm)

Provenance: Ex-Westermann Collection, Germany, acquired in 1950s.
