The Calima culture is a series of Pre-Columbian cultures from the Valle del Cuaca in Colombia. Four cultures successively resided in the Valle: the Ilama, Yotoco, Sonso, and Malagana cultures. In addition to fine ceramics, they also created exquisite hammered goldwork as we see in this gold idol with its intricate detailing and expertly executed technique.
