Pre-Columbian, northern Peru, Cajamarca culture, ca. 400 to 800 CE. A pretty ceramic bowl in the Cajamarca fancy ware style, with a flared foot and a wide, conical bowl. The exterior is buff, while the interior has been painted with a profusion of abstract motifs - a spiral that swirls into the bottom of the bowl, with dots and serpent-like lines against deep red and orange backgrounds. Size: 5.95" W x 2.8" H (15.1 cm x 7.1 cm)
