Native American, Dominican Republic, Taino, ca. 1000 to 1500 CE; Pre-Columbian, Colombia, Tairona, ca. 200 to 1000 CE; Pre-Columbian, Peru / Andean, ca. 1000 to 1500 CE. An attractive gold, turquoise, and amber beaded necklace comprised of four beautiful strands of complementary designs. The outermost strands feature cylindrical, lozenge, and rounded beads of translucent amber from the ancients of the Caribbean, probably created by the Taino ( an indigenous Arawak people) of the Dominican Republic as well as a few tube-shaped and rounded gold beads most likely created in Colombia. The central two strands feature marvelous hand-cut, hand-polished, and hand-drilled rounded and disc-shaped turquoise beads from the ancients of the Andes, several tube-shaped and rounded ancient Colombian gold beads, one with a band of hammered gold wrapped over a rounded stone, and two gold beads presenting a concentric circular motif, probably created by the Tairona or Muisca peoples. Quite rare to find a necklace comprised of Caribbean amber, Andean turquoise, and Colombian gold beads! All beads are hand-cut, hand-drilled, and hand-polished. Size: longest strand 17" L (43.2 cm)
