Description:

Pre-Columbian, Pre-Classic Mayan, ca. 300 BCE to 250 CE. This is a votive red pottery figure, possibly made without a head, or neck area smoothed in antiquity, possibly to leave offerings inside of the body. It is a female body with decorative belt, shoulder pieces, and necklace; it has exaggerated sexual organs on stumpy legs. This piece is almost certainly a grave good. Size: 4-3/4"H (12cm) x 4"W (10cm) x 2-1/2"L (6 cm).

Provenance: Ex-private Olan collection, California, by family descent, acquired 1960 to 1970.
