Description:

Native American, Southwestern United States, New Mexico, Isleta Pueblo, ca. 1900s to 1930s CE. A hand-built hemispherical pottery bowl, the exterior slipped in white and painted with black geometric motifs and red whirling logs (swastikas). The whirling log symbol, representing well-being, good luck, and protection among Southwestern tribes, was commonly used in their crafts. However, in 1940, many tribes discontinued its use in response to its association with the Nazi regime. Therefore, this bowl likely predates World War II. Size: 7" Diameter x 3.5" H (17.8 cm x 8.9 cm)
