Pre-Columbian, Panama, of a style commonly seen from Costa Rica, ca. 800 to 1200 CE. A pair of vessels, one an owl effigy bichrome pitcher with details painted in black slip against a red background; the other a bisqueware round-bottomed olla with hollow twin shrew-like rattles facing outward on opposite sides of rim. Two playful designs with rich iconography. Sizes: 6-1/8" x 4-1/4" Provenance: Ex-private Durango, CO collection, acquired in 1980s.
