Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Colima, Post-Classic period, ca. 1000 to 1400 CE. A lovely handmade pottery jug enveloped in a vibrant hue of burnt sienna. Supported by a concave, discoid foot, the ancient vessel displays a globular body that narrows to a cylindrical neck with a dramatically raised band at its mid-section and an annular rim. Three conical embellishments reminiscent of shamanic horns curve upwards to tapered points along the edge of the jar's sloped shoulder, all equidistantly spaced along a horizontal axis. Size: 8.125" in diameter x 8.5" H (20.6 cm x 21.6 cm)
