Description:

Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Colima, Post-Classic period, ca. 1000 to 1400 CE. An attractive hand-built pottery jar presenting a uniquely shaped body with a discoid form and seven bulbs decorating the periphery. Sitting upon a circular, concave base, the ancient vessel features a wide waist, a gently sloped shoulder, a narrow neck, and an annular, flared rim. The sienna-hued exterior of the jar boasts a lustrous burnish and is elaborately adorned with an intricate geometric pattern exhibiting triangular motifs on each bulb and seven rings of a spotted design encircling the mouth of the vessel. Size: 7" in diameter x 4.875" H (17.8 cm x 12.4 cm)
