European Alps, Late Pleistocene Era, Late Ice Age, ca. 110,000 to 12,000 years ago. A fossilized Alpine Ibex (Capra ibex) skull with large orbits (ocular cavities), nasal cavities, upper and lower jaws with teeth, as well as the remains its magnificent horns. Fossils like this example date back to the Pleistocene epoch, when the Alpine Ibex and the Spanish Ibex most likely evolved from the Capra camburgensis, an extinct Pleistocene species. Wood block stand. Size: 6" L x 4.75" H (15.2 cm x 12.1 cm)
