Description:

Native American, Western United States, Plains Tribes, possibly Apache, ca. mid to late 20th century CE. A remarkable pair of child sized leather high top moccasins completely covered in beading. The soles are also beaded- so these were clearly intended for special events such as pow wows and had limited use to preserve the beaded sole. The upper has a bifurcated tongue with a front lacing, and the beadwork is applied via lane (lazy) stitchwork. Size: 5.75" L x 1.75" W x 9" H (14.6 cm x 4.4 cm x 22.9 cm)

Provenance: private Alamo, California, USA collection, before 2000
