Description:

Phoenicia, ca. 8th-7th century BCE. A beautiful solid silver ring with steatite scarab set in bezel (only top of scarab is visible). The scarab was finely carved from steatite and originally fired with a blue or green glaze. While the glaze has worn away a bit, it still shows some of its color. On either side of scarab is matching pair of rounded globular adornments. Approximately size 4-5. Remnants of some bronze adherence is visible on the solid shank.

Provenance: Ex-Derek Content Collection, Houlton, ME.
