Levant coast in modern Lebanon, Syria, and Northern Israel, Phoenician, ca. 3rd to 2nd century BCE. A mold-made terracotta figurine representing Tanit, the Phoenician goddess invoked to bring about fertility as well as rain during times of drought, also worshipped as a sky goddess who ruled over the celestial realm. Nicely detailed and mounted upon wood block stand. Size: Figurine itself measures 6-7/8"H x 2" (17.5 x 5.1 cm).
