Description:

Ancient Eastern Mediterranean, Phoenicia, ca. 6th to 4th century BCE. A slender, ovoid pottery plaque with a lengthy inscription on one side and an interesting agricultural scene on the other. The front bears six columns of inscribed Phoenician text that perhaps give tribute to a particular deity or individual. The wider back side exhibits a left-facing figure with a dramatic forward lean who wields a sickle while harvesting large bushels of wheat. A short inscription is shown above the head of the harvester and continues down behind the figure's back. Size: 1.5" W x 1.1" H (3.8 cm x 2.8 cm)
