Ancient Near East, Phoenicia, Iron Age, ca. 1000 BCE. A graceful pottery pitcher intended to hold oil for filling lamps, enveloped in a creamy beige-hued slip. Sitting upon a narrow base, the ancient vessel presents a broad hip, a sloping shoulder, an attenuated neck, and a flared rim. A petite spout protrudes upwards from one side of the shoulder, while an arched handle is featured on the opposite side. Size: 6.2" Diameter x 11.4" H (15.7 cm x 29 cm)
