Description:

Ancient Eastern Mediterranean, Phoenicia, ca. 2nd millennium BCE. An intriguing cast-bronze statuette depicting Anat (Anath, Anant, Anit, Antit), the Phoenician warrior goddess and sister/lover of the great god Ba'al Hadad. She stands upon fused legs with a slender torso not indicative of femininity, with a raised right arm that originally held an axe or club, and a lowered left hand that originally held a shield. Almond-shaped eyes, a bulbous nose, sloping cheeks, and cupped ears define her minimalist visage beneath a conical helmet with a spherical finial. Custom museum-quality display stand included. Size: 2" W x 4.25" H (5.1 cm x 10.8 cm); 5.2" H (13.2 cm) on included custom stand.
