Description:

Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. A fine cast-bronze foot formed via the lost wax (cire perdue) process around a pottery core. The left foot has a broad form with lengthy phalanges, a high arch in the center, and a thick heel beneath a tapering ankle and lower shin. Lustrous layers of brown and dark-green patina envelop the entire foot and imbue it with an elegant presentation evocative of ancient Rome. Size: 1.7" L x 0.7" W x 1.55" H (4.3 cm x 1.8 cm x 3.9 cm); 1.875" H (4.8 cm) on included custom stand.
