Pre-Columbian, South Coast Peru, Nazca, ca. 200 to 500 CE. A hand-built and highly burnished polychrome portrait vessel with a handled spout atop the visage. The visage is boldly rendered with wide-open almond-shaped eyes, arched brows above, closed red lips with a mustache above and a goatee on the pointy chin below, marvelous step motifs adorning the cheeks, and a tumpline with decorative tassels over his short, brown coiffure. A mesmerizing vessel, beautifully modeled and painted. Size: 3.9" W x 4" H (9.9 cm x 10.2 cm)
