Description:

Southern Italy, Apulia, ca. 4th Century BCE. A dainty terracotta slipware vessel for holding salt and other spices. This is a shallow blackware piece with a small footed base. The rim is slightly curved inward to prevent contents from spilling out when in use. A nice reflective luster from the glaze is seen throughout and this salt dish fits nicely in the palm of a hand. Apulian workshops produced pottery for domestic use that were exported throughout the Mediterranean. Size: 3.125" Diameter x 1.75" H (7.9 cm x 4.4 cm)
