Near East / Western Asia, Persia (Iran), Nishapur area, ca. 9th century to early 13th century CE. A charming ceramic stamp with a bull-shaped handle. The stamp face is decorated with an abstract incised pattern that resembles two large eyes. The body of the bull is painted with the distinctive blue glaze known from the Islamic Nishapur ceramic industry which has aged to a beautiful pearlescent patina. Size: 3.95" L x 2.2" W x 3.25" H (10 cm x 5.6 cm x 8.3 cm)
