Description:

Near East, Parthian Empire, ca. 300 to 200 BCE. A rare silver Eros figure, a fragmentary piece which was once part of an earring. Eros is standing on a square plinth, the nude body curved back with arms and wings folded behind the shoulders. The loop on the verso of the feet is the clasp for the terminal end of the ear wire- the verso of Eros' head has a small abrasion / perforation where this wire hook protruded from. Size: 1" L x 0.3" W (2.5 cm x 0.8 cm); silver quality: 94% to 94.6%; weight: 2.8 grams
