Description:

Near East/Western Asia, Parthia, ca. 3rd to 1st century BCE. A rare, beautiful mold-made ceramic votive of a woman. She is portrayed standing (although the sculpture ends at her thigh), wearing a draped garment of a pale blue-green color; she also wears a veil and has a parted coiffure. She plays a drum with both hands that she holds under one arm. Parthian art employed motifs from Hellenistic culture and from the Near East, as is clear from this lovely figure. She features loops for suspension on the back of her head and on her lower sides. Size: 2.35" W x 5.3" H (6 cm x 13.5 cm); 6" H (15.2 cm) on included custom stand.
