Description:

**Originally Listed At $1400**

Pre-Columbian, South Coast Peru, Paracas culture, ca. 500 to 100 BCE. A hand-carved wooden figure depicting a pregnant female standing atop delineated legs and petite feet. The woman presents with a distended abdomen - perhaps indicative of pregnancy - and clasps her hands tightly beneath her chin. Her visage features coffee-bean-shaped eyes, a slender nose, incised brows, and puffy cheeks, all beneath a sloped forehead. Traces of thick brown pigment are visible across the composition, and smooth patina has formed on the surfaces. A fine example from ancient Peru! Size: 1.9" W x 7.6" H (4.8 cm x 19.3 cm); 8.25" H (21 cm) on included custom stand.

Provenance: private Hawaii, USA collection; ex-private Hans Juergen Westermann collection, Germany
