Description:

Pre-Columbian, South Coast Peru, Ica Valley, Paracas culture, Callango style, ca. 6th to 4th century BCE. An intriguing hand-built terracotta effigy vessel depicting a stylized janiform human head as the spout and an abstract anthropomorphic countenance on either side of the bulbous body. Each figural and geometric element has been incised into the surface of the vessel and painted in dark-red, yellow, blue-black, or light-brown hues. The jar has a rounded base and sloping shoulders, with a pair of integral suspension loops adorning each side. Lucite display stand included. Size: 6" W x 5.5" H (15.2 cm x 14 cm); 6.75" H (17.1 cm) on included custom stand.
