Pre-Columbian, Southern Peru, Ica Valley, Paracas culture, ca. 500 to 300 BCE. A fine hemispherical pottery bowl with a band of incised steppe motif in hues of pink, red, ochre, and white around the exterior rim. The vessel was created using the coil, paddle and anvil technique, the pigments are usually applied after firing the piece which preserved their vibrancy! Size: 8.25" Diameter x 3.5" H (21 cm x 8.9 cm)

  • Condition: Heavy restoration to interior basin, resurfacing and overpainting, vessel is likely repaired from several pieces. Exterior has abrasions on base and old inventory labels. Nice preservation to pigments and incised motifs.
