Oceania, Papua New Guinea, Sepik River region, ca. mid-20th century CE. A hand-carved wooden canoe prow with a petite abstract creature along the top point - perhaps a bird or fish - as well as a stylized anthropomorphic male figure standing near the bottom with a massive septum ring and an exposed phallus. Remains of red and white pigment are visible in scattered areas of the incised decoration. Size: 5.5" L x 11.5" W x 31.5" H (14 cm x 29.2 cm x 80 cm); 35.5" H (90.2 cm) on included custom stand.
