Description:

Pre-Columbian, Central America, Panama, Gran Cocle culture, ca. 600 to 1000 CE. A beautiful example of Cocle artwork, this is a polychrome vessel with a round body, small disc foot, corseted neck, wide flaring mouth, and small cylindrical spout rising from a narrow handle. Around the shoulder is a band of delightful decoration - a series of birds, each with a long neck, oversized head dominated by a huge round eye, and long beak. The birds are surrounded by swirling black lines and separated by bands of red and lavender/purple triangles. Dense black bands ring the upper shoulder and midsection of the bowl. Size: 6.5" W x 5.5" H (16.5 cm x 14 cm)
