Pre-Columbian, Panama, Veraguas, ca. 500 CE - 1100 CE. Wonderfully detailed lost-wax cast gold bird from the ancient Veraguas culture. Long beak slightly opened, crest extending from back of head, feet extended for landing and wide triangular tail. Suspension loop at reverse. Gold tests at 69.5% with other metals present being copper and silver. 4.6 grams Size: 1" W x 1.125" H (2.5 cm x 2.9 cm)
