On obverse, two wrestlers; the l. one holds the l. arm of his opponent with both hands, the opponent grasping with r. hand his r. wrist On the reverse, slinger, wearing short chiton, advancing r. and discharging sling; on r., triskeles. Aspendos, located on the southwestern coast of modern day Turkey, was the most important city in the region of Pamphylia; its coinage spread far and wide throughout the ancient world, attesting to its economic strength. Today it is known for having the best-preserved theatre from antiquity, as well as a number of other excellent ruins - an aqueduct and basilica are highlights.
