Europe, possibly in region of modern France, Acheulean, lower Paleolithic (1.5 million to 200,000 years old). An amber-hued flaked stone bifacial hand axe. Acheulean tools were produced during the Lower Paleolithic era across Africa and much of West Asia, South Asia, and Europe, and are typically found with Homo erectus remains.  Typically made of stone with good fracture characteristics, such as chalcedony, jasper, and flint.  A wondrous example of the first standardized tradition of tool making of Homo Erectus and early Homo Sapians!  Size: 4" x 3-1/2" x 1-1/4" .
