Description:

Native American, Southwestern United States, New Mexico, Chavez, Paleo, ca. 13000 to 8000 BCE (15,000 to 10,000 BP). This is a fabulous pair of hand knapped stone projectile points - a Clovis and a Folsom, two of the most desired types of points of North America. The Clovis type of projectile point is expertly hand-knapped from chert and boasts a light tan-hued surface, this ancient weapon presents an auriculate lanceolate form with a grounded, concave base and an excurvate blade that displays its widest part at its midsection. The Folsom point is made from a striated beige chert with pink and gray inclusions. The blade is excurvate with parallel sides and a widest part formed at the top third and a flattened fluting from base nearly to tip on both faces. Clovis and Folsom points were used by some of North America's earliest inhabitants and have even been found lodged in and near mammoths and mastodons. Size (Clovis point): 2.5" L x 1" W (6.4 cm x 2.5 cm); (Folsom point): 1.75" L x 1" W (4.4 cm x 2.5 cm); (case): 6.125" L x 5.25" W (15.6 cm x 13.3 cm)
