Description:

Northern Europe, Viking / Norse culture, ca. 8th to 11th century CE. A fabulous pair of braided Viking-era bracelets, both made from multiple strands of long, thread-like wires wrapped and twined around one another. The first bracelet is comprised of silver and has a more loosely-woven design and has been cleaned extensively to reveal the brilliantly-reflective material underneath. The second bracelet, comprised of more uniform and tightly-woven bronze bands, has a wonderful patina in hues of forest green and azure blue. This is a great pair of study pieces as it shows both the typical types of metal used to craft Viking-era bracelets as well as how they would appear in both cleaned and uncleaned states. Size of both bracelets: 2.125" H (5.4 cm); 3.25" H (8.3 cm) on included custom stand; Weight: 31.7 grams (bronze bracelet); 40.2 grams (silver bracelet).
