Description:

Central / Northern Europe, Visigoth / Migration Period, ca. 5th to 7th century CE. A pair of cast bronze brooches (fibulae), each with a radiating sunrise-shaped face and vaguely anthropomorphic shape. Both have loops on the back that once would have been used to fasten an attached pin but which is now lost. Both are made from high tin copper alloys, giving them their silvery patinas. One of the most classic pieces of ornamentation from this culture. Size of largest: 1.1" W x 2.25" H (2.8 cm x 5.7 cm); 3.2" H (8.1 cm) on included custom stand.
