Description:

Pre-Columbian, Teotihuacan, Xolalpan-Metepec phases, ca. 400 to 750 CE. Very fine pair of jade ear adornments. Each disc is circular with a central hole as well as a suspension hole and raised concentric ring. This pair shows the simplicity and delicacy of Teotihuacan taste. There is a remarkable fragility to these thin circular forms, yet the design is bold and strong. The color of the jadeite material shows the Teotihuacan aesthetic choice for lighter toned greenstone and jade objects. Size: 1.75" W x .06125" H (4.4 cm x 0.2 cm)

Provenance: ex-private Saint Petersburg, Florida, USA collection; ex-private Texas, USA collection, prior to 1970
