Description:

Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. A gorgeous pair of glass bottles, each boasting an elegant form and stunning, rainbow-hued iridescence. Free blown from a translucent yellow glass, the largest displays a spherical body with a round shoulder, a tall, conical neck, and a gently flared rim, all sitting upon a concave base. Alternatively, the second vessel was formed from a colorless glass and presents a round yet stable base, as well as a globular body that narrows to a sloped shoulder and an elongated neck capped with a flared and rolled rim. Size of largest: 2.4" Diameter x 4.8" H (6.1 cm x 12.2 cm)

  • Condition: Both repaired from several pieces with break lines visible. Loss to shoulder of largest with fragments from the loss on interior. Remains of blue tack on base of both from previous display. Otherwise, both are excellent with nice earthen deposits and beautiful iridescence. Collection label to base of larger.
