Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. A lovely pair of polychrome pottery vessels, the first a tripod rattle bowl with incised cross hatching on the tondo indicative of a grater bowl, the smaller a gourd-shaped vessel with a short neck and a flared rim, both with attractive abstract geometric motifs in white, red, and orange hues. Two pieces created by the ancients of West Mexico, probably the indigenous of Chupicuaro. Size: tripod vessel measures 8.25" W x 4.375" H (21 cm x 11.1 cm)
