Latin America, Peru, Lovedo Shipibo, ca. mid 20th century CE. A pair of Shipibo dolls including a standing barefoot male with short black hair and very naturalistic features, holding a staff wound with blue threads, wearing an ankle length light robe decorated with hand drawn Shipibo style geometric designs, and a double stranded necklace of white, red, and blue beads. Complementing this is a standing barefoot female doll, also with short black hair and naturalistic features, donning a white and yellow daisy printed green blouse with red ruffles at the neck and waist, a white linen wrap skirt decorated with colorful hand drawn Shipibo geometric designs and zigzag stitching, and a single strand of white, blue, orange, green, yellow, black, and gold beads around her neck. A lovely pair, both made from a synthetic composite material with painted features. Size: male doll measures 10.25" H (26 cm)
