Description:

Near East, probably North Syria, ca. 2nd millennium BCE. These are a pair of clay hand molded figures with very small traces of cream slip remaining. One is a horse with some decoration that suggests a bridle or rope along with a piece of decorative head armor. The other is a horse with rider; the rider's face is the classic Near Eastern style from this time period. Horses played a huge role in this society. Size of largest: 3-3/4" L x 2-3/4" H x 1-1/4" W (9.5 cm x 7 cm x 3.2 cm).

  • Condition: These are two small pony figures, one with a rider. That one has been repaired in multiple places but now appears intact aside from a replacement to one of the legs. The other is intact with no obvious signs of repair. Both have expected wear.
