Description:

Pre-Columbian, North Coast Peru, Moche V, ca. 600 to 800 CE. A lovely pair of mold-made terracotta items with fine details and rich earthtone hues. First is a tall standing female rattle with a flat base, delineated genitalia, folded arms, and a stylized visage with a broad headband; this vessel also has small bead-like items on the interior. Second is a squat, round-bottomed portrait vessel depicting a large face with almond-shaped eyes, large earspools, and a protruding nose. It also has a lovely glazed surface with a stepped neck and a thin rim. Size of largest: 5" H (12.7 cm).
