Africa, Ivory Coast, Dan culture, ca. mid 20th century CE. A pair of finely carved, Dan miniature passport masks, both with a characteristic concave face, pointed chin, protruding mouth, slit eyes, upturned nose, and high domed forehead. While passport masks have traditionally been made throughout the Ivory Coast, regional stylistic variations exist. For instance, while these are quite similar, one presents a rather convex, pointed chin with an incised beard. Larger measures Size: 5.75" L x 2.5" W (14.6 cm x 6.4 cm)
