Description:

Pre-Columbian, Central America, Classic Maya, ca. 350 to 600 CE. These are two EXTREMELY FINE and large MAYAN STEMMED MACROBLADE DAGGERS. They were fashioned in chert and are INTACT AND UNBROKEN with no unsightly modern damage or nicks. Each shows age patina and surface sediment encrustations. Both lack any modern evidence of recent flaking or flint crushing - unlike modern-made copies or tourist fakes. Collection labels are still present. Masterful workmanship can be seen in both specimens with delicately flaked cutting edges and integral stemmed handles. Most likely every Mayan warrior carried one of these as a personal side weapon. Edges are still sharp and tips are as originally made with some ancient use wear. Size of longest: 8.75" W (22.2 cm)

Provenance: Acquired from Tennessee private collection, formerly from Riverside Relics
