**First Time At Auction**

Julie Anderson (American, Contemporary). Two Opera Singer Puppets - mixed media, 2006. Signed and dated on rod for larger puppet. Two handmade rod puppets depicting lavishly costumed opera singers by Julie Anderson. Both the larger bearded male singer and the more petite female singer have hand-carved and hand-painted wooden faces and are presented as passionate vocalists with open mouths and emotive eyes. Their flowing costumes are comprised of multiple layers of a variety of fabrics - silk, satin, velvet, and more - presenting with gorgeous patterns, wonderful textures, colorful and metallic threads, as well as decorative trims. In addition, both are elaborately bedecked with vintage jewelry that pleasantly jingles when the puppets are moved. Finally, the rods supporting these puppets fit snugly into matching tiered wooden stands that Anderson painted with attractive geometric and striated decorative motifs of rose, lavender, gold, silver, and copper hues to coordinate with the color scheme of the puppets' costumes. Size: 26" H (66 cm) Size: 26" H (66 cm); 28" H (71.1 cm) on included custom stand. Size (male): 32.75" H (83.2 cm) Size (female): 24" H (61 cm)
