Ancient Near East, Iran, Elamite people, ca. 2200 BCE. A pair of well-shaped, small bronze axe heads with short, curved blades and long cylindrical sockets. These emphasize the beautiful but simple geometry of these artistic weapons, ultimately meant to be buried to demonstrate the wealth of their owners. Some archaeologists have suggested that smaller weapons like these may have been made specifically to be buried with children. Size: 3.75" L x 2.5" H (9.5 cm x 6.4 cm)

Provenance: Ex-Estate of John Piscopo. Mr. Piscopo was one of the largest collectors of ancient weapons in the US with a collection that spanned all cultures, all ages.
