Ancient Near East, Holyland, Iron Age I, ca. 1200 BCE. A lovely pair of pottery oil lamps from the ancient Holyland. The larger of the 2 presents in the form of a bowl with a lipped, and flared rim and a petite spout. Alternatively, the other lamp displays a pinched spout, a shallow basin, and a thick, discoid foot. Oil lamps like these examples were the ubiquitous lighting source for most of the ancient world at this time. Lamps of these types were used during the first temple period in the time of King David. Size of larger: 6.3" W x 2" H (16 cm x 5.1 cm)

  • Condition: Larger has been professionally repaired and restored with expected nicks and abrasions. More petite lamp has chipping and abrasions to surface. Otherwise, more petite lamp is intact and both have nice presentation with light earthen deposits.
