Description:

**First Time At Auction**

Magna Graecia, South Italy, Apulian, ca. 4th century BCE and Hellenistic, ca. 4th to 3rd century BCE. For some reason, small scale objects are simply cuter than large scale ones. Just as puppies and other baby versions of animals can melt hearts, miniature sculptures are particularly endearing. Two diminutive ceramic vessels, one a variant of a South Italic lekythos with a large palmette painted on the body, the other a Hellenistic simple piriform jar - both utterly adorable! Size: lekythos measures 2.25" H (5.7 cm)

Provenance: Ex-private collection of James Farmer, Maryland, collected from major galleries and auction houses between 1995 and 2005
