Description:

Greece, early Hellenistic period, ca. 4th to 3rd century CE. A lovely pair of Grecian terracotta female busts. The smaller head, made from orange-hued pottery, features well-aged facial features and a large headband holding back her hair. The larger head, made from earth-toned pottery, displays delicate almond-shaped eyes, a petite nose, and pursed lips, with long bangs draped gracefully across her brow. Such busts were perhaps meant as votive offerings to Aphrodite or meant for display within one's home. Size of larger head: 1.25" L x 1" W x 2" H (3.2 cm x 2.5 cm x 5.1 cm); 3.5" H (8.9 cm) on included custom stand.
