Ancient Greece, Hellenistic, ca. 3rd to 1st century BCE. A matching pair of 85% gold (equivalent to 20K+) earrings, both presenting an attractive and intricate design comprised of two circular elements, each with four circular depressions that may have once held enamel inlays, four granules between them and one in the center to resemble a rosette, coiled and granulated borders, a trio of lozenge-shaped coils with a granule adorning each end positioned between these upper and lower circular faces, and a twisted/coiled hoop. Both are set with modern French hooks to make them not only lovely but wearable. Size of one not including modern hook (they are nearly identical in size): 0.45" L x 0.95" W x 0.95" H (1.1 cm x 2.4 cm x 2.4 cm); total weight: 13.1 grams.
