Description:

Europe, Bronze Age, ca. 1000 BCE. A fabulous pair of matching bronze armlets in mesmerizing spiraling forms, most of which are smooth with a strong middle rib, however the final spirals are tightly twisted, making for an attractive decorative effect, and have curled back termini, perhaps to resemble snakes. These were created most likely to be worn during the Bronze Age, and buried with their owner as a prized possession. It is unclear if armbands like these were worn for actual physical protection; however, scholars have suggested that they had a ritual/religious protective purpose. Armbands are some of the most famous symbols of the Bronze Age in Europe. Both with gorgeous green patina. Comes with custom stand. Size: larger measures 3.125" W x 4.75" H (7.9 cm x 12.1 cm); 8.5" W x 7.5" H (21.6 cm x 19 cm) on stand
